The Fair Work Ombudsman has secured $4 million in court-ordered penalties against the former operators of three Taiwanese restaurants for deliberately and systematically underpaying vulnerable migrant workers and using false records.

The total penalties imposed by the Federal Court are the second-highest ever secured in the Fair Work Ombudsman’s history. Ombudsman Booth commented that the penalties demonstrated the serious nature of the offending that resulted in vulnerable migrant workers being underpaid hundreds of thousands of dollars.
