CHINA READY Welcome Program
Australia is now attracting more than eight million international visitors a year and the rapidly growing China market is sitting at the forefront of this growth.
China has overtaken New Zealand to become Australia’s largest inbound visitor market for the first time. Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows there were 1.39 million Chinese visitors in the year ending February 2018, an increase of 13.2 per cent. China has been Australia’s most valuable inbound tourism market since 2011, with visitors spending a record $10.4 billion in the year ending December 2017.
This growth is set to continue with China’s increased prosperity forecast to fuel another trebling of numbers over the next decade to 3.9 million by 2026-27.
To capitalise on the importance of Chinese visitation, Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA), together with China Ready & Accredited have co-developed the R&C CHINA READY Welcome Program.
This is the only authoritative and tailored CHINA READY Program for the Australian restaurant and catering industry.
Under the program, Plate Rated* businesses are able to become recognised under the CHINA READY Program. The program involves:
- Undertaking a short training session (which members can do in their own time);
- Translating menus (a Chinese character sticker pack is provided to assist in maintaining menu translation), and
- Providing access to a translation service where required (stickers containing contact details are provided for placement in reservation diaries etc).
- A fee of $199 applies to cover the cost of this program.
Upon completion of the course, program participants will be sent a sticker pack, a decal and a welcome folder and can use the CHINA READY Welcome Program logo in promotional materials.
