Tourism growth

In the year ending February 2017, Australia had over 8.3 million visitors which is up 10.10 per cent Year on Year (YoY). Just over half of these visitors (4.2 million) came to Australia for a holiday which is up 16.8 per cent YoY. (International Arrivals, Tourism Australia).

Over 1.1 million visitors to Australia in the year ending December 2016 were Chinese, making it the second largest visitor market after New Zealand. (International Visitors Survey, Tourism Research Australia).

During the 2015-16 period, over $4 billion was spent on takeaway and restaurant meals which amounted to 11.7 per cent of total tourism exports. (R&CA Media Release, Double Digit Growth).
