Workplace wonders

The implementation of WorkChoices continues to be a great opportunity for restaurateurs and caterers. The federal workplace relations system offers significant flexibility through agreements which small businesses—particularly restaurateurs and caterers—could benefit from.

The Association’s WorkChoices workshops are ongoing (contact your State Associations on 1300 722 878 for details). They provide all the information you need to opt into the new system and to make the most of its opportunities.

Your Association membership also offers protection if you’re faced with questions about your workplace relations’ practices. Please contact your State Association if you need advice on any issue, from timesheets to clauses in employment contracts.

The extremely tight labour market has created an environment in which you as the employer are keen to make employment attractive. The flexibility offered through an individual or collective agreement makes it possible to protect these conditions in an employment contract. Your Association can provide advice on how to create an agreement that meets your needs and those of the employees you’re looking to attract.

With the initial rush over, why not register for a WorkChoices workshop and start planning for the year ahead.
