WorkChoices begins

Your Association is ready to help you implement the Federal Government’s WorkChoices changes.

We are now only two issues into the new year, yet we seem to be back into break-neck pace. This year will be a year of great change that hopefully will benefit your business. In particular, the WorkChoices reforms will be a huge change in the early part of this year.

Restaurant & Catering Australia and the state Restaurant & Catering Associations will be rolling out a series of workshops/seminars in the coming months to provide you with information to make these changes work for you. While the legislation has been planned to ensure businesses do not need to change anything on day one to comply, there will be benefits in preparing your business. I know I will be interested to find out whether I should offer my staff AWAs or whether the award condition will continue to apply. These and other questions will be answered at the workshops.

Please also consider becoming a certified practicing restaurateur. Certification is offered through state associations. You will get recognition for training that you have undertaken in the industry or you can work through a program in your own time. These are just two of the services the associations, with the assistance of the Federal Government, are offering to you this year. They are all part of our overall strategy to make the industry more sustainable into the future.
