Tetsuya Wakuda of Tetsuya’s Restaurant—2017 Restaurant of the Year

The nation’s restaurant, caterer and café of the year were revealed on Monday night at the 2017 Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering HOSTPLUS National Awards, held at The Peninsula in Melbourne’s Docklands.

The Artisan Café in Blackwood, South Australia, was named 2017 Café of the Year. Sydney catering company Events By Aria took the gong for 2017 Caterer of the Year.  The world-renowned Tetsuya’s Restaurant in Sydney is the 2017 Restaurant of the Year.

Restaurant & Catering (R&CA) CEO Juliana Payne congratulated each of the National Award winners on behalf of the Association, praising their individual contributions to Australia’s hospitality industry.

“The winners of this year’s Awards, both at a national and a state level, have each demonstrated sustained excellence in their craft which we are delighted to recognise here tonight.”

  1. Good to see that the true and respected restaurants over the last 20 years still are being recognised for the quality of their food and service and not being replaced by the newer and more trendy. Congratulations to Tetsuya and his team. Long may they continue.
