R&CA will soon launch Australia’s first independent resource to help restaurants, cafes and other retailers learn more about and capitalise on the online food ordering and delivery industry.
Navigating the online food delivery industry: A guide for food and beverage retailers will support business owners when weighing up the investment and return of online ordering and delivery and help empower them to make informed decisions to ensure sustainable growth.
Online food ordering and delivery is one of the fastest evolving e-commerce industries globally, with the number of Australian businesses using online food delivery services doubling according to the 2018 R&CA benchmarking report—31.2 per cent in 2018 up from 15.4 per cent in 2017.
For food and beverage retailers, partnering with an online ordering and delivery provider may offer an easy, effective way to reach more local customers and capture a section of the market they may not otherwise have had access to.
Developed by R&CA in collaboration with major industry players, the guide will provide a one-stop shop for information on the industry, the opportunity for all types of businesses as well as considerations for restaurants either pursuing a new online business stream or already working with an online delivery solution.
“Online delivery is one of the biggest topics of conversation both within our member network and the food and beverage industry generally,” R&CA CEO Juliana Payne said.
“We’ve worked closely with key stakeholders, including restaurants, customers and our corporate partners, including our Gold Association Partner, Menulog, to create a consolidated resource that we believe will be incredibly useful for the restaurant and catering industry.”
The guide will be available on the R&CA and Menulog websites from November. Visit rca.asn.au for more information.
