The new tourism campaign is just one way the Government is helping restaurants and caterers.
Tourism Australia (TA) has re-worked its domestic tourism campaign, featuring 30 Great Australian Spaces (and six Great Australian Restaurant Spaces).
Minister Fran Bailey launched the new campaign in March with stunning visual images of our great land. The restaurant spaces featured are also spectacular, capturing the flavours of a great night out!
The campaign also highlights great ‘drives’ around Australia. There is some work to be done on these and TA is working on more food and wine experiences on each of the routes.
The association has been working with Minister Bailey on these initiatives as well as a number in the small business aspects of her new responsibility. The small business work includes a fund established by the Federal Government to make Local Government more efficient—we would all welcome that. The association submission focused on access to the benefit of all restaurant and catering businesses, encouraging councils not to charge more for services than they cost to supply.
These measures would expose councils that are not business friendly. This is a great role for the Government to play. These targeted initiatives, along with the more macro workplace relations and education and training reforms, are shaping this Government’s term as one of the most exciting in our history.
