The changes to award rates take effect in July—are you ready?
The changes to the modern award(s) are about to really gather momentum with the ‘momentary’ conditions to take effect on the first of July. To service what will be a critical time to get out information on the award, Restaurant & Catering is increasing resources in the workplace relations advisory service and is offering a series of workshops. As no more Government support is available, Restaurant & Catering has had to levy a modest fee to attend this next round of seminars. If you have not attended one of the sessions yet, I urge you to do so. There are a large number of changes that you really need to be aware of. The rates of pay that will apply at July 1 have not been published yet because they will need to include the outcome of the minimum wage review that will be handed down in June. The last two weeks in June are likely to be the only period in which we will be able to get wage tables to you. There have been many changes made to the industrial relations system in recent years. The next change will have the shortest implementation period thus far, so please keep an eye out for the information flowing through.
