For the third consecutive year, leading Australian dairy sales and marketing company, Pure Dairy, has won multiple awards for their cheddar range at the International Cheese and Dairy Awards in Nantwich, England.
Featuring products from more than 5000 of the world’s top cheese manufacturers from 50 countries, the Nantwich event is the world’s premier cheese and dairy show, where only the very best cheeses from around the globe are able to compete.
This year, there were more cheeses, more judges and even more competition than in previous years. More than 300 of the world’s best cheese judges discussed the merits of each of the cheeses, examining their smell, appearance, taste and texture, weighing up the sometimes tiniest of differences.
Pure Dairy’s Australian manufactured cheddar cheeses won both Gold and Silver in the highest cheese category of Extra Mature/Vintage at Nantwich.
“We are being judged against the world’s best cheeses,” Pure Dairy founder and managing director Adrian Josephson said.
“This isn’t a local competition of narrow entrants—this is an event where the world’s best are measured against one another.”
Pure Dairy had two Australian cheddar entries this year, one being an old traditional cheddar recipe and the other being a sweet cheddar recipe.
“It’s amazing to see our Gold Medal-winning Australian Sweet Cheddar that has been maturing for 24 months is the stand-out in a room full of European manufactured sweet cheddars,” Josephson said.
