Noma auctions off last seats to its final service

NomaThe pop-up version of the famed Danish restaurant came to a close at its final dinner service on Saturday 2 April.

The last remaining seats were sold in an auction, where 15 tables (or 56 seats) went to the highest bidders. Tables were available in two, four, six and eight-people formations, with prices starting at $1500 for a table for two. The price includes a mark-up of $100 on the usual degustation and wine-pairing price of $700 per person.

Profits were split between local food rescue charity, OzHarvest, and executive chef Rene Redzepi’s non-profit organisation, MAD.

Redzepi said: “The auction was an opportunity for us to give back in a small way. It’s a chance to raise money and recognise the work being done by our friends at OzHarvest and MAD, and to celebrate the welcome we’ve received and the new friendships that we have made throughout our Australian adventure.”
