New lease of life

ManlyAfter sitting empty for more than three years, Manly Pavilion—the waterfront site on Sydney Harbour —has confirmed a new tenant for the remainder of the 25-year lease. While the identity of the new leaseholder has been kept confidential at this point, it’s rumoured that the winning bid was valued at $6.2 million. Several names were floated during the ongoing saga, including Café Sydney, although many pulled out before the official tender process. The two-level Art Deco site is significant in size and could potentially host a range of different style venues, although locals have been petitioning, as reports the Manly Daily, for at least part of the building to remain a public restaurant rather than private function space.
