The WorkChoices reforms are well underway and the transition should benefit everyone.
We are now well underway with the roll-out of WorkChoices and since the government implemented the majority of the changes in the reform package on 27 March the activity has been furious. Restaurant & Catering Australia has been funded, under the government’s WorkChoices education campaign, to offer 60 FREE seminars for restaurateurs and caterers across the nation. You will find the schedule in this issue. These sessions have been carefully thought out and very much contextualised to your business. There are opportunities in these reforms that will benefit your business so I urge you to attend. There will also be a lot of information online, a series of fact sheets and a WorkChoices manual that will provide an easy-to-read version of the changes and how to work with the changes in your business.
At this stage the WorkChoices reforms apply to those businesses that are registered as companies and those located in Victoria or the Territories. However, business can opt in to the reforms by incorporating and the government recently announced it would halve the fee for incorporation as an incentive to business.
