Crown Lands, which comprises almost half of all land in the state of New South Wales, has called for tenders to develop a restaurant site on Hickey Island at Yamba on the state’s south coast.
The site was previously occupied by Gorman’s Restaurant, and David McPherson, director of East NSW Trade and Investment (Crown Lands) told The Daily Examiner that the organisation is looking for “interested proponents with the capability, vision and relevant experience to redevelop the site”.
McPherson said that the Hickey Island site offers a unique waterfront location which is in close proximity to the Yamba CBD.
“An exciting opportunity exists to establish a modern commercial development that will complement, enhance and support public recreation, tourism and retail orientated activities in the local area,” he said.
“Potential business opportunities may include the development of a restaurant, cafe, function centre or tourist accommodation.”
