Your Association has adjusted the Awards process in the response to your concerns, so why not enter?
We have now concluded the period of the Awards where we receive nominations from the public for their favourite restaurateurs and caterers. With these nominations (and self-nominations) in hand, we are about to invite entries into the Awards. Please enter your business in 2011. Whilst the number of nominations were strong in 2010, there were lower attendances than usual at some of our awards events. In part, this was because 2010 left many businesses still in the wake of the GST with little time or money to invest in the Awards. Hopefully, this has turned around for most.
At the end of last year we reviewed the Awards system and made many changes that will improve it. We have kept all of the regions for the awards this year; extended the nomination period for caterers; and clarified the categories, and which categories are grouped together in the entry process. All of the other aspects of the awards process (including the judging) are as strong as ever.
There will be fewer awards events this year. In particular, in New South Wales and Queensland, regions have been grouped together for the awards presentation. There will still be all of the regions under these groupings (e.g. in the South East Queensland Awards winners will still be announced in the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Darling Downs). Please join your colleagues in the Awards this year.
