R&C’s new President says now is the time for us to act together and seize the future!
It is a great honour to have been elected as President of Restaurant & Catering Australia. Having the support of my peers to lead the organisation that represents the industry I have work in all my life is a humbling experience. The association is a very different organisation to that which I first joined in 1986. Substantially due to the changes made by Peter Doyle in the last two years, we now have a very professional advocacy–based association to represent us. This means expanding our offer to the membership and investing in new services. Industrial advice, legal advice and the awards are integral, but we need more to appeal to a greater range of businesses.
The industry has grown at a rapid rate over the past five years as consumers have further embraced eating out. Now is the time for all of our industry to act together and seize our future!
We all owe Peter and Con Castrisos, both past Presidents of R&C, a great debt of gratitude for the hours that they selflessly dedicated to your Association. They leave the organisation in great shape. My vision from here is to consolidate the changes we have made and to grow membership. To be stronger now we really need more members. Whilst we have many thousands, we need to have at least 50 per cent of all outlets in the country to be sustainable.
