DineSmart is changing lives this Christmas

An initiative that unites restaurants and their diners to take action against homelessness is back—along with a host of new restaurants committed to taking part this Christmas.

Since 2003 DineSmart has applied the simple model of asking diners to chip in a small donation to their bill to combat homelessness in the local community. 

To date, the collective power of restaurants and local diners working together has enabled StreetSmart to raise over $5.7million. 

This year, more than 110 restaurants have signed up to participate in the campaign which will run from 21 November to 31 December. The goal is to raise at least $250,000 for homelessness projects during the busy Christmas period.

“We can and should be doing something [about homelessness], and we can all make a difference through leaving a small donation on our bill when we dine out,” StreetSmart CEO Adam Robinson said.

“DineSmart has had a meaningful impact on thousands of people’s lives delivering essential services to those in crisis, as well as working to prevent the causes of homelessness.”
