Record numbers of R&C members have attended the Awards nights to celebrate their successes.
The Restaurant & Catering Awards ceremonies are now half the way through for 2015. While we have seen this in past years, the interest from new businesses in each State has been impressive in 2015. Views are often divided on this. Some members feel that promoting new businesses is promoting additional competition which they are not keen on. Others believe that good competition helps to grow the market.
The healthy competition mantra is more where I fit. I am encouraged by new businesses that are prepared to put their new concept to the test against their colleagues. The standard across the board is very high and, particularly this year, we have seen a really diverse range of businesses open in each market. The awards process is a very thorough analysis of the product that our businesses present to consumers. The feedback plots each business against the winner and the average score. This means that entrants can see where there is room for improvement in comparison to their competitors. This service is also available, on a fee for service basis, to access outside the awards judging period. The Restaurant and Catering Evaluation System (RACES) that is used to urge the awards is a very robust system which ensures that the winners in each category truly show the best performers in the category. That’s why it is a pleasure to celebrate the awards season each year.
