2006 saw the passing of key initiatives, and the New Year is set to bring even more opportunities.
Another year has begun, and we face another series of challenges and opportunities. We are again in an election year, and as a result political matters will be at the forefront of our thoughts in 2007.
On reflection 2006 was a great year, as the Association had many successes: the establishment of a simplified BAS, the continued exemption from the pending implementation of food safety plans and the establishment of Savour Australia.
These initiatives are thanks to the positive relationship we have with the Australian Government. At the end of 2006 we recognised this through the contributions of the Hon. Bruce Baird, Warren Entsch, Joe Hockey, Fran Bailey and Bob Baldwin. All of whom have made a significant contribution to our industry.
We have also recognised the achievements of those who have given their lives to our industry. The Lifetime Achievers Awards are an important way to recognise the efforts of restaurateurs and caterers.
It fills me with great pride to see our industry’s most respected recognised in Parliament House. It is an important opportunity to have those making the decisions on our future gain a better understanding of our business.
Restaurant & Catering Australia stands ready to assist you to seize the opportunities and meet the challenges the New Year presents.
